AMMA Encourages All to Vote
November 27, 2024

With Election Day approaching, the American Medical Manufacturers Association (AMMA), representing dedicated domestic producers of PPE and medical supplies, urges everyone in our industry to cast their vote in support of American manufacturing’s future. Both presidential candidates have emphasized the importance of a robust domestic manufacturing base, acknowledging its essential role in safeguarding American jobs, bolstering our economy, and ensuring we can independently meet the nation’s critical needs.

AMMA does not endorse candidates. We encourage everyone to make their voices heard and vote.

Vice President Kamala Harris has championed the administration’s commitment to what she calls “building greater long-term resilience” in American manufacturing. Harris has spoken passionately about increasing domestic production, especially critical supplies like PPE, to protect economic security and ensure we’re ready for any crisis. The administration increased tariffs on imports in the PPE and medical supply sectors to ensure our supply chains are stable and American businesses can thrive.

Former President Donald Trump has similarly been vocal about his “America First” agenda, emphasizing bringing jobs back to U.S. soil and reducing our reliance on foreign manufacturers. Trump has consistently advocated for substantial tariffs on Chinese imports, arguing that these measures create a fairer playing field for U.S. businesses, allowing us to build up critical domestic capabilities in PPE and beyond. His commitment to “Made in America” policies reflects his belief that American industries should have every tool available to succeed and meet the country’s essential needs without relying on overseas production.

When both candidates align on the importance of bolstering American manufacturing, it’s a rare and encouraging show of bipartisan support. Bipartisan support extends to many in Congress and candidates seeking the office.

At AMMA, we’re confident that no matter who wins this election, our leaders will work to maintain and grow a robust domestic supply chain for essential products. By voting this year, we contribute to policies that will keep American manufacturing resilient and thriving.

Let’s vote for a future where America’s manufacturers, especially those in critical industries like ours, continue to create high-quality, essential goods for our communities, support good jobs, and safeguard our economy. This Election Day, let’s make our voices heard for ourselves, our families, and for a stronger, more self-reliant America.
